No fewer than 2,630 students were admitted into the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Port Harcourt through the UTME and Direct Entry programmes in the 2015/2016 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Joseph Kinanee, made this known during the
seventh Matriculation Ceremony of the institution which took place on Thursday March 10, 2016 at the
university auditorium. Kinanee stated that 541 of the new students were admitted into the Faculty of Business studies, 280
into the Faculty of Education, 569 into the faculty of Humanities, 553 into the faculty of Natural and
Applied Sciences while Faculty of Social Sciences, Vocational and Technical Education had 552 and 135 admitted students respectively.
He said about 12 per cent were admitted through Direct Entry while another significant
percentage came into the part-time programme.
The VC also announced a reward of laptop computers to seven final year students who consistently performed creditably in the past three years, with a cumulative grade point average of 4.4
and above.
He said the gesture was to motivate and encourage outstanding performances and to also instill the spirit of studentship and competencies among fresh
students.
