Unilag SSANU Release Election Guildlines and Timetable

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities,
University of Lagos Branch has released electioneering
process guidelines and time-table for their forthcoming
election scheduled for Thursday, June 2, 2016.
Consequently, all interested members are enjoined to
obtain nomination forms from the underlisted persons:<br /> 1. Akinrujomu Tony

The vacant positions are:<br /> i. Chairperson
ii. 1st Vice Chairperson (Akoka)
iii. 2nd Vice Chairperson (Idi-Araba)
iv. General Secretary
v. Assistant General Secretary
vi. Treasurer
vii. Financial Secretary
viii. Public Relations Officer
ix. Trustee
x. Women Leader
ELECTION GUIDELINES
Aspirants for all positions must
i. Possess at least a first degree or equivalent (HND)
ii. Have spent at least (5) five years as financial members of
the union
iii. Have at least (5) five years to retirement
iv. Be confirmed members of staff of the university
In addition to the above
A. Aspirants for the position of Chairperson.
a.) Must satisfy ‘O’ level requirement of five credits
including English Language and Mathematics.
b.) Must have served as a member of past or present
executive of the union.
B. Aspirants for the position of Vice Chairperson in
addition to (a) above, must have served in an executive
capacity in the past or present executive of the union or in
other related union.
C. Aspirants for the position of General Secretary in
addition to (a) above, must have vast administrative
experience in the union or in other related union or in the
university.
D. Aspirants for the position of Treasurer and Financial
Secretary must in addition to (a) above, have Accounting
Background.
E. Aspirants for the position of Public Relations Officer
must in addition to (a) above, must have good background
in communication arts or English Language and be
experienced in Public Relation matters.
F. Aspirants for the position of Women Leader must in
addition to (a) above, be of proven integrity and vast
experience in women affair.
N.B. Any aspirant with proven case of misconduct or
currently facing any panel with the university is not
qualified to contest
ELECTION TIME TABLE
· Collection and submission of nomination forms: Friday,
May 6 – Thursday, May 12, 2016
· Screening of aspirants: Monday, May 16 & Tuesday, May
17, 2016
· Publication of successful candidates and agents:<br /> Wednesday, May 18, 2016
· Electioneering campaign: Thursday, May 19 – Friday,
May 27, 2016
· Manifesto Day (Akoka): Tuesday, May 31 2016
(10.00am-12.30pm)
· Manifesto Day (Idi-Araba): Tuesday, May 31, 2016
(2.30pm-4.30pm)
· Election Day (Akoka & Idi-Araba): Thursday, June 2, 2016
· Run off Election (if any): Friday, June 3, 2016
· Swearing in Ceremony: Monday, June 6, 2016
NB
Submission of nomination forms should be accompanied
with aspirants’ mission and vision for the union (Max. two
page write up).
