The bill titled #JAMBBill was sponsored by Senator Joshua Lidani of Gombe South senatorial district.

During the deliberations on the bill, Senator Sam Egwu supports the bill but fears the confusion of having JAMB results valid for 3 years. He said the challenge is space; i.e the carrying capacity of the universities, adding that there’s the need to encourage private university.
FG scraps post UTME Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Bwacha says students results should be valid for up to 3 years as said while opening up more capacity via more Universities. Senate President, Bukola Saraki spoke in favor of the bill which the senators later voted in support of.

The amendment of the bill has passed the second reading and has been referred to the Senate Tertiary Education and TET Fund Committee for further legislative action. This means the bill has one more step to be passed into law.
