Disappointment Over WAEC, NECO Performances – Minister

Disappointment Over WAEC, NECO Performances – Minister
A statement issued by Muhammad Hazat Sule, Deputy Director / Chief Press Secretary on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, quoted the minister as saying that the FCT administration will partner the National Teachers Institute (NTI) to reverse the downward fall in the standard of education in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Speaking on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 while receiving a delegation from the National Teachers’ Institute Kaduna led by its Director General, Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu, the Minister expressed disappointment with the performance of FCT students in the public examinations.

“A few weeks ago, we sat down and looked at our overall education system here and the statistics we saw in terms of performance of the students at the primary and secondary school level was really very disappointing in terms of successes in the two major examinations of WAEC and NECO,” Bello said.

The Minister, who said the history of the NTI is a very positive one, added that it is one of the government institutions in the country that has a big success story.

Malam Bello urged the management team of the Institute to continue to build on the legacy left behind by its founding fathers, which has made the Institute successful.

The Director-General of NTI, Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu commended the FCT Administration for making available to them facilities in its public schools to be used as training centres for the prospecting teachers in the zone.

He therefore solicited for more cooperation between the administration and the Institute in order to enable the organization to perform the functions for which the Federal Government established it.

Why I Graduate with First Class’ – Rabiyat Usman

Miss Rabiyat Usman, a first class graduate of the Rhema University, Aba has said that her conversion to Christianity transformed the course of her life and academics.

Usman, therefore, charged undergraduates of Nigerian Universities to fear God and be disciplined, if they wanted a brighter future.

The 23-year-old graduate gave this advice in Aba on Monday, after her graduation on Saturday, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Aba.

Usman, who has finished her youth service, urged undergraduates to prepare themselves for a competitive world out there with discipline, fear of God and obedience to the university authorities.

The first class graduate said that there was no future for lazy and undisciplined graduates in the larger society, hence the need for a brighter future through hard work.

She said she made a first class honours degree because she was fortunate to have accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour early at Living Word Academy.
